■メッセージ

Research: To reflect mental and political changes in German philosophy and literature and their impact on common life today, has been my goal of research since the days at Frankfurt University in the 1970s. This approach is based on thorough investigations of art traditions prevailing in modern German literature as well as the changing perception of art itself.
Career: From Frankfurt to Nanzan and Todai, then back to the Japan-German-Centre in Berlin, and now with Musashi University, was bound to be my voyage between two worlds, that generates the intellectual distance needed to observe and comment on current phenomenon in literature, philosophy, and on its changing social context. My career will continue to follow this pattern.
Work: I prefer my students to take active part in my classes, and I enjoy listening to individual opinions. Students shall adopt modern ways to work: mastering personal computers and the internet facilitate investigative research and the computation of scientific work.
